We are seeking a Technical Writer to develop and write a variety of end-user product documentation including, quick start, implementation, and user guides. This position determines the needs of the audience, organizes the structure of technical documents, and writes information to meet the needs of the audience so they may easily find and consume the information.

Key Responsibilities
• Collaborates with teams and other divisions as part of a project team to produce a wide variety of technical publications
• Research both technology and existing documentation such as design documents, technical drawings, product specifications, UAT testing, and subject matter expert interviews to gather information to complete documentation
• Translates technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel
• Creates, updates, and maintains deliverables including but not limited to technical manuals, instructional material, diagrams, process flows, step by step instructions, policy and procedures, and product documentation for internal and external audiences
• Designs and formats documents that adhere to standards for optimum presentation, appeal, readability, and ease of ongoing maintenance
• Identifies, selects, and incorporates visuals with written content
• Writes and edits content for assigned materials; adheres to and manages materials throughout design, development, draft, edit, review, and publishing
• Supports efforts to standardize documentation accessibility
• Solicits and incorporates feedback, and revises documents as needed
• Technical Writer degree or certification (desirable) or relevant experience
• Knowledge of the NIST 800-53 security framework re: policies
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Word
• Expert editing and formatting skills
• Experience with Visio
• Resolving and influencing the positive outcome of conflicting objectives and priorities
• Work effectively within a fast-paced environment
• Experience working in an Agile project environment is a plus
• Knowledge in privacy and security standards
• Knowledge in writing technical documentation

Demonstrates the following abilities:
• Thorough command of English grammar and foundational knowledge of technical writing and business communication standards
• Excellent writing and editing skills; able to adapt to a standard technical writing style, write clearly and concisely, and convey information in multiple formats for a variety of audiences with different levels of understanding
• Able to analyze material, discern key information, and present in manner best understood by target audience
• Able to formulate questions to gain understanding, capture necessary information, and ask appropriate follow-up questions
• Excellent organizational skills; attention to detail and consistency
• Able to multitask and prioritize assignments to meet assigned deadlines
• Desire to learn about new and emerging technologies
• Must be detail focused
• The ability to work highly independent and as part of a team
• Ability to quickly obtain and understand information from a vast number of sources.

Required / Desired Skills

  • A degree in technical writing, communications, or management information systems. Equivalent experience can be substituted for education. (Required 5 Years)
